Bath Restoration Project

Our major project is the renovation of the historic 1936 Deep Eddy bathhouse. Currently, the bathhouse is closed to the public. After 5 years of fund raising and massive effort by countless people, the historic Deep Eddy Bathhhouse re-opened June 2nd. The total cost of the renovation was around $1.5 million, $1 million of which was raised by the Friends of Deep Eddy.

Why we love Deep Eddy

You might ask why we put so much energy into improving a pool. This video captures some of the reasons why we, and many in the community, care so much about Deep Eddy. The file is quite large, so be patient while downloading.

• Deep Eddy Benefit Sat May 31 2-9pm The lovely and talented Judy Paul and Satch Grimley are having a benefit for Deep Eddy pool. Judy and Satch will be having an art opening at IF+D featuring all sorts of cool things: raffles, art made with public participation, an auction, and possibly jugglers. 208 Colorado
• Friends Annual Meeting June 3rd, 6pm at the pool We need to have our annual meeting to elect officers and the board of directors. If you serve in either capacity, please let me know if you wish to continue to serve. If you wish to nominate yourself to any position, please let me know. Please join us on June 3rd at 6pm. We will also discuss what activities we might want to pursue this summer.
• City of Austin Parks Director The City of Austin is beginning the search process for a new director of the Parks Department. A public session to discuss a recruitment profile for the search process will be held May 1. There is an afternoon session from 4pm to 5:30 at City Hall Council Chambers and an evening session from 6pm to 7:30 in the City Hall Board and Commissions Room. If you are interested in helping with this process, please attend one of these sessions to express your concerns.
