In Memory of Sarah Foster

On August 1, 2024, the Deep Eddy community lost Sarah Burrell Foster, who passed away at age 72 after suffering many years with Alzheimer’s Disease. Sarah was a devoted swimmer with many friends at the pool and also a board member of Friends of Deep Eddy.

After childhood in Cedar Rapids, IA, and La Jolla, CA, her family settled in Dallas, where she attended and graduated from Richardson High School. She moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas where she earned her B.A. and M.A. and became a school teacher. She later returned to UT for her JD and became a law partner at Haynes & Boone LLP.

In addition to swimming, Sarah’s athletic accomplishments included running, cycling and soccer. She was instrumental in establishing the first women's soccer team at UT.

Through cycling she met Kevin Alan Bice, who she married in 1986, and together they raised their son, Matthew David Foster Bice. an Austinite since he was born in 1988.

Sarah’s full obituary can be found here. A memorial service will be held for her at 3 pm on Tuesday, September 10 at 702 Barton Boulevard.
