Show Your Deep Eddy Love
Cleanup and mulching volunteers needed March 1st.
Once or twice per year the Friends of Deep Eddy, Austin Parks Foundation and Austin Parks and Recreation join forces to spruce up, beautify and renew the grounds around our beautiful pool. This Spring volunteers gather on Saturday March 1st. The Austin Parks Foundation as part of “My Park Day” provides resources and will deliver a dumptruck-load of mulch to the parking lot which we will shovel up, wheelbarrow around, spread under tree canopies, and rake into place. It’s great exercise to counter-balance your swimming muscles! Learn more and register here.
Twice per year we haul mulch all over the park to protect the trees.
If you’d like to help, but can’t make it on March 3rd, you can still help control our persistent litter problem. Some of our regular swimmers have developed the habit of picking up and disposing of a single piece of trash from the parking lot every time they visit the pool. Try it, it’s easy!
Keeping our public parks and pools open, safe and accessible requires cooperation among city staff, citizens and patrons alike. Even small acts like thanking lifeguards for their service can boost workplace morale and retention of skilled employees. Others help new lap swimmers orient to pool etiquette and circle swimming rules. Regardless of how, there’s something everyone can do to help keep Deep Eddy Pool and Eilers Park a peaceful oasis for the people of Austin.
Thank you and I hope to see you on March 1st!
